My lovely Wife took me out for the day with the children she looks after and her friend Jennie, who helps out from time to time. It was a lovely sunny day too. We went off down to the beach front where they found a spot for them to set up for the day, the kids were all excited (nice to see).
So now I know where they’re based, I went off on my own. The scooter only just about made it back up the steep slope but as my wife keeps telling me, I need to lose some weight. That said as I hadn’t had any breakfast and it was now midday, I went off to find something to eat. I went through the town and at the very end I saw this nice little fish and chip shop which I could order from outside in my scooter, which was great and as I waited for the fish to be freshly cooked. The shop started to get busy and after eating the fish and chips, I understood why. The fish was lovely, the batter crispy and not too greasy and I’m sure the chips were cooked in beef oil or something like that, very nice. They also do Gluten free fry Friday (all day). Which I thought was great, shame it wasn’t Friday so I was a little naughty as I suffer from IBS. As time has gone by I have found out that if I’m good 90% of the time, I can get away with being a little naughty now and then whatout suffering too much. Also I don’t eat all the batter so not so bad (well that’s what I tell myself until I’ve been too naughty and pay the price).

When I do suffer what comes to mind is this program I was watching one night about IBS. A women said something like I can’t believe that there are people that put things to eat in their mouth knowing that It’s going to give them pain. Basically meaning how stupid are they and I think yeah you stupid idiot I’m one of them. Saying that I have got so much better than I was but there is still some improvement to make. Also my IBS can just kick in, as my consultant said the stomach is so sensitive people can have nothing wrong with theirs yet when before say going on stage or an exam they feel sick or keep having to go to the loo. So if you’re suffering from chronic IBS it is probably not going to take a lot to set it off. It’s taken a lot of years for me to manage it as well as I do but like I said before still room for improvement (fingers crossed keep getting better at it even if it is a little each year). Although it will always catch me out at sometime.
Then I found a spot in the shade as it was a very nice sunny day. Just happened the spot that I found I could still see the sea when I looked up from reading my book. I was near a huge Tent which had live music, food and drink. When I decided to have a break from reading my book a nice man came over and started to talk to me. He happening to be a member of one of the churches in the town, as we were chatting he told me that the churches get together for one week in the year to lay on different events through the day for the community to enjoy. Some are free some are not, hence the huge tent. Had a lovely chat then carried on reading my book while listening to the music and also had a very nice gluten free cake and tea from the tent.

Later on Sam rang me and I meet up with them again and off we went for a lovely ice cream before the journey home, which the kids and I loved. They all had a lovely day and so did I. Big thanks to Sam for taking me out for the day with them. Looking forward to the next one.
